It's Break Time

Mike and I decided to take a break from fertility treatments until later this year. It was a tough decision, but I think it is the right decision for us. All of the hormones being pumped into my body and the monthly disappointments are beginning to be really hard on me. We just need a break from it all.

With that being said, I decided to use these months to focus on getting my body to a healthy state. I have always struggled with my weight. I do not eat healthy and I do not exercise on a regular basis. This needs to change. In 2003 I lost 30 pounds on the Atkins Diet. I gained it back. In 2009 I lost 30 pounds by eating under 1000 calories a day and exercising. I gained it back plus some. For once I would actually like to lose it and keep it off! Mike and I have decided to start eating healthier together. It is always easier when we do things together. We are guilty of ordering food and having it delivered a few time a week. Of course it's unhealthy and expensive and it needs to stop.

Last week I planned on having a service guy out to fix my treadmill. He called before he headed over and we discussed what might be wrong with it. He pretty much told me that it was going to cost probably between $200-$300 to have him out and to fix the machine. With it being 9 years old, he mentioned that after 10 years the parts are no longer available. So, if anything else happened we would be out of luck. We decided to get another treadmill. Dick's Sporting Goods has one for $500, so we just decided to go that route. We purchased it yesterday and I have the job of putting it together today. Yay...not.

I think I am going to use my baby bump board to do weekly or bi-weekly pictures of my weight loss. As embarrassed as I am about my weight, I don't really want to post the pics, but I think that it may help me stay motivated. At this time I had hoped to be taking weekly bump pics of my belly growing, but I think it might be almost as exciting to take weekly pics of it shrinking. ;)

Breaks are so hard, but they can be really fruitful too. We've never taken a "we're tired break" ours have always been more of the "we're out of money" variety, but I think that the inability to go cycle after cycle has been good in some ways! Wishing you the best during your break!

We've been on a break since November. At first it wasn't even a conscious thing. Three months in and I can honestly say I have no desire to walk into my RE's office anytime soon. I still want a baby...but being obsessed with it exhausted me. Refocusing my energy on my marriage, my Etsy shop, and hopefully buying a house soon! All good distractions. Best of luck on your weight loss goals. That's great!!

Good luck! Keep us updated :)

I recommend the book The Power of Your Metabolism by Frank Suarez. It's an easy read and is very informative. I think you'd love it! :)
