On the job front: I had mentioned before that I got a call from the principal at our local junior high school that wanted to know if I was interested in a full time instructional aide position at his school. Last time I posted, I wasn't sure if I got the job or if he wanted to interview with me. At the time that I talked to him, he had only told me that I would be hearing from him or from the Special Education department. So, after a week of not hearing from either, I emailed him. He got back to me to tell me that the job is mine and that once it is approved at the school board meeting on the 15th, then he would contact me to tell me when I would start. So, after much drama with my boss at the YMCA for before and after school care, I gave my two weeks notice and my last day is this Thursday. Hooray. I am so glad to not have to deal with her anymore. My principal at my other job and the teacher that I work with are awesome. They hate to see me go, but they understand that a full time gig and benefits is very important to have. I hate to leave that school and the kindergartners. I really feel like I am a part of the team at that school. I can only hope that I am as comfortable and as happy at the new school as I am at my current school.
MINI VACATION: I am really looking forward to the extended weekend coming up. My husband and I decided to rent a cabin in northern Wisconsin (at Camp Nawakwa) for Columbus Day weekend. We are going to the same place that we spend a week at in July every year. This time we are renting the cabin that his aunt and uncle get. It is a large (three bedroom) cabin on an island. We are getting it for 3 nights for $275 (with the pet fee). We finally get to see what camp looks like with fall colors. The best thing about this place is that the dogs get to run free around the island. There is a foot bridge that connects us to land, but there is a gate to keep the dogs in. We are mainly going to just relax, but I have a lot planned in my mind. We are going to canoe, go for a walk and enjoy the fall colors, carve pumpkins, bake the seeds, I'm going to bake an apple pie, and we are going to do a lot of reading and just plain enjoy each others company. One of the best features of camp are the stars. I look forward to laying on the foot bridge or dock and star gazing with my honey. I also look forward to spending time around the fire and having some drinks and chillaxin'. It is a long drive (13 hour round trip) for just an extended weekend, but we so need this and it will be wonderful. Here is a peak at where we are staying from the Camp Nawakwa website. I will post pics when we get back. :)
Have a great week, everyone! TTYL!
