IVF #1 Egg Retrieval

Mike and I went in on Monday morning for the egg retrieval. I was pretty nervous. I was relieved to find out that Mike could be with me almost the whole time (minus when I was in the operating room). It was so nice having him there with me. He was so sweet and comforting. When they were putting the IV needle in my arm, he hovered over me and blocked my view from the needle. He also kissed the top of my head and forehead. He's so sweet. The nurse told me that she can tell how much he loves me. When they were about to take me back he asked the nurse if that would be the last time that he would see me before the procedure because he wanted to make sure to give me a hug/kiss and wish me luck. She said that she was glad that she didn't have to TELL him to do those things. He is so incredibly thoughtful. I am so lucky to have him.

After the procedure I wasn't in much pain and I'm still not. I must have a high pain tolerance. Thank God!

Here are some pics from the retrieval day:

Dressed and ready to go!
1st and 2nd IV attempt! Ouch!

Coming out of La La Land!
The lab called yesterday morning to say that out of 23 retrieved eggs, only 10 were mature and fertilized....which is still really pretty good. I guess when they measure during the ultrasounds, it isn't always accurate. He said that I am a good candidate for the 5-day embryo transfer. I will hear from them tomorrow morning to find out if I have to go in then for the 3-day or if we can indeed come in on Saturday for the 5-day. I am hoping for Saturday. Then I only have to miss one day of work (Monday).

Results of the 2nd IV Attempt! :/
See the picture above. This was the worst part of the whole experience. :/ I can't really complain! :)

Glad everything went smoothly for you. Theres something about husband seeing their wives so vulnerable that makes them pick up the notch on showing some love. Which in my opinion makes things a lot easier. Lucky u having no pain after the retrieval I cant say the same with mine.
