Do We Tell or Don't We?

Not that I agree, I just thought it was funny. :)
I will not pee on a stick.
I will not pee on a stick.
I will not pee on a stick.

As much as I want to, I am really afraid of getting a BFP and getting my hopes up just to have them shattered on Monday with a BFN. I have read that:

A positive pregnancy test which later becomes negative can happen because of two reasons:
•    Chemical pregnancy – your embryo tried to implant , but failed to successfully embed into the lining.
•    The HCG shot which you took for triggering ovulation was still in your body and the pregnancy test detected this HCG , which is why you got a false positive result! This can stay in your system until 2 to 3 weeks after the shot.
Fertility treatment: If you receive shots of hCG or gonadotropins (for example, Pregynl, Profasi, Pergonal, APL) for ovulation it's posible to have a positive urine or blood pregnancy test for two to three weeks after the shot and not be pregnant. A rising blood hCG level usually indicates a pregnancy. - See more at: http://www.babymed.com/pregnancy-testing/false-positive-pregnancy-test-result#sthash.Gg2BbCk3.dpuf

With the pregnancy test being 5 days away, I am struggling with whether or not to disclose the results of the pregnancy test right away and who to disclose them to. I feel cruel holding back the information from anyone that has been following our journey.  I don't want to tell too many people. I have just heard of so many unfortunate things happen in early pregnancy, but really bad things can happen whether you are in the early part of your pregnancy or the later part of your pregnancy. We are definitely going to tell immediate family and close friends...for sure. I think I am going to make my blog private so that way I can share the news with all of my readers (blogger friends) that have been following along with what we've been going thru. If we are pregnant, I really don't want to miss out on the big reveal on Facebook and what not. I want to stage a cute photo to announce our pregnancy, but I want to make sure that the pregnancy is stable before doing that and I don't want to leave you all in suspense until then. The verdict is that you guys will know (as long as you follow my blog). :)

Have a wonderful rest of your Wednesday!

We are in the same predicament! We found that we will be finding out on November 11 when we thought it was going to be November 16. So we've continued to tell everyone it would be the 16th :) That way we can find out first and not feel the pressure of telling everyone right away. So many people are involved in this process that I don't want to deny them the joy of hearing it's positive! And if they don't hear from us on the 16th, they know it was negative. I like your idea of making your blog private for just those that read your blog! I may have to do that. But I'm going to want to post it SOMEWHERE!! :)

By the way, love your e-card. Hilarious!!

Oh how this question runs through my head constantly. The only persons I'm worried about our my parents because they have been there through this journey. Haven't told them the date we will find out but she knows it's coming up. I really hope you get your BFP!

Love the picture, guilty as charged lol BUT I couldn't help it! I was so in shock and felt like those that had been reading deserved to know and follow along the journey no matter how it turns out. That was just my thoughts. We also told family because the more prayers the better :) Anything can happen at any point in time during this pregnancy and I would share any news that comes up, I'll take all of the support I can get. I am just so excited for you and can't wait to see how this turns out, I just feel like this is the one for you!! I read a few of the others blogs that posted comments here and I am excited to see how their tests turn out as well. I hope we have lots of bloggy babies soon!!

Ha, i wrote a whole blog post on this last month after our first IVF. (http://theifjourney.blogspot.com/2013/08/conundrums.html) I've decided that the only people we're telling when the actual date of the PG test is are my parents and 2 very close friends. No need to get everyone all worked up so early in the game. The other people that know that I'm going thru this process, i have told that its a true 2 week wait (though its actually less). That way we can at least have a few blood tests under our belts before we let them know. Such a strange/rough predicament to be in... LOL Let's just hope its good news for you!

I believe that the HCG shot usually stays in a person's system for 9-10 days (depends on the person). If you were worried about getting a false positive then you could test out the shot. Meaning that 5 days after the shot, you could start taking pregnancy tests. Once you have a negative, the shot is out of your system and you can then rely on a positive test afterwards. I decided not to do this because I thought that seeing positive tests would mess with me head after seeing only negative tests for so long.

As far as when to tell about your pregnancy, think about the people you would be okay talking to later on if something did go wrong (it's an awful way of having to think of it, but it's true). Personally, I knew that I would tell people on my blog because they would be very understanding as so many people have been through miscarriages.

Crossing my fingers you have a BFP in a few days!!
