The Beginning - Initial Visit

I had my first appointment with Chicago IVF on Friday and it went really well. I really like the staff and I am looking forward to working with them.

The nurse practitioner told me that they could put me on Clomid and my husband and I could continue trying naturally, or we could opt to do the Intrauterine Insemination (IUI). I told her that we have been trying for so long and we are just ready to be pregnant. So...we decide that we are going to do the IUI. Unfortunately, I saw her on day 8 of my cycle and I have to take Clomid on days 5-9, so it was too late to do it this month. She told me that this month Mike and I have to try on her own, but that on the first day of my next period, I need to call to set up an appointment to come in for labs. It is going to be a rough month because the office is an hour away and I have to make my way up there 7 days in one month. Ugh. It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have a crazy schedule with work and taking 3 classes. It will be worth it though.

This is the schedule for Ovulation Induction – Clomid:
Day 1 – Beginning of menstrual cycle
Days 2-5 – Go in one of these days for labs
Days 5-9 – Take Clomid
Days 10-13 – Go in Mon, Wed, and Fri for monitoring
Day 14 – Give myself  HCG Injection to promote ovulation
Day 17 – Go in for IUI 12-36 Hours after HCG
Day 21 – Go in for more labs
Day 28 – Pregnancy Test

Planning Christmas Traditions! ツ

I know I am getting my hopes up, but how can I help it?! Now that we are officially going to see the fertility doctor, I keep thinking about how this time next year we could have a little one. I keep thinking about how fun Christmas will be when we have children. I am creating all of these Christmas traditions in my head (and on Pinterest).

Tradition #1 Advent Calendar: I just purchased 25 Christmas books. I will wrap all 25 and on December 1st, we will unwrap a book a night and I will read the books to our child(ren). I am a teacher's assistant this year and I am running the Scholastic Book orders. With the points that I accumulated and the coupons that I received, I got all the books for under $50.

Tradition #2 The Elf on the Shelf: I am having so much fun watching the kindergartners excitement when they look for Jingle (our Elf on the Shelf) every day when they come in. I HAD to buy our very own. I also purchased the movie to go along with it. I have been pinning fun ideas on Pinterest for this as well.

I can't help my excitement about the thought of starting a family. I just hope that things go smoothly and pray for a healthy pregnancy. Here's to hoping and praying that 2013 is the year! ツ
